Growing with purpose: Welcoming Tiff and our sustainability journey

At Designed for Humans, we believe great design should have a positive impact on people, and on the planet too. As a small, ideas-first creative studio, we believe every decision matters, from the tools we use to how we collaborate to the projects we choose. That’s why we’ve been working hard to shape our Sustainability Commitments to build a business that is sustainable by design.

To accelerate this journey, we’re thrilled to welcome Tiffany Huxley as our new Sustainability and Content Executive. Tiff will help us transform our ideas into measurable action, and we’re excited to bring her knowledge and passion for sustainability into the heart of our work.

Our Sustainability Commitments - our story so far

We’ve built our commitments around four main pillars:

  1. Project Carbon offsets and tree planting with Ecologi - For every project we complete, we commit to offsetting its carbon footprint through reforestation and climate initiatives via Ecologi. This means each client collaboration supports the planting of 60 new trees worldwide.

  2. Remote-first, lower impact - Operating as a remote-first studio helps us significantly reduce commuting emissions, unnecessary travel, and the energy consumption of a physical office. It gives us freedom and lowers our impact.

  3. Efficiency in design and digital products - We commit to writing lightweight, efficient code and optimising assets. This means faster load times for users and less energy consumed by servers.

  4. Smart, cloud-based tools - We use Figma, Squarespace, and Notion to reduce waste and duplication.

These choices are intentional, and they’ve shaped how we work so far, but they’re just a beginning of our story because we want to go further.

What’s next - measurable sustainability action

That’s where Tiff comes in. She’s here to help us turn these commitments into real, measurable outcomes.

Tiff recently graduated with distinction in MSc Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology at Keele University, where she gained in-depth technical knowledge across environmental assessment, legislation, and social justice issues. She worked on projects exploring the impact of sustainability technologies in different climates, all earning top marks, and through a blend of critical and creative thinking she even devised a new system for invasive species management, which she specialised in.

On top of that, Tiff has just completed a Sustainability internship where she advanced her skills in corporate sustainability assessments, carbon accounting (as outlined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol), energy auditing, and practical projects delivering both carbon and cost savings.

We couldn’t be happier to have her on the team. With her expertise, Tiff will be developing our sustainability roadmap, strategy, and action plan, and she’ll be tracking and reporting our impact so we can stay accountable. Most importantly, she’ll be helping us weave sustainability into everything we do, both inside our studio and in the projects we create with clients. Not as a bolt-on, but as a natural part of how we work.

We believe that with this focus, we can move from “we do some good stuff” to “we are a force for good.”

A message to our clients and community

If you already work with us or might in the future, here’s what to expect:

  • Accountability matters. We’re building systems to measure, improve, and be transparent about our impact.

  • Collaboration excites us. If your organisation is doing amazing work in climate, circular economy, or social impact, we’d love to connect.

  • We’ll share what we learn because Designed for Humans means being honest, curious, and always improving.

We’re grateful to everyone who has been part of our story so far, and now, with Tiff onboard, we’re excited to grow even stronger in our commitment to creating design that’s better for people and for the planet.

Welcome to the team, Tiff!
