Launching our Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap
A key milestone in our journey to become a more sustainable business
At Designed for Humans, we recognise the importance of incorporating sustainability into every aspect of our business. We are passionate about preserving and (if possible) enhancing the environment, and want to leave a legacy of treading lightly upon it.
For the last month, the entire Designed for Humans team have collaborated on developing a Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap, which we are proud to release today (23/10/2025). We recognise it is ambitious, but we are passionate about moving from discussions to direct action, and we know that through hard work we can achieve our goals.
What is a Sustainability Strategy?
A Sustainability Strategy outlines the values and commitments made by a company or organisation, which relates to their environmental performance. It is currently not required by UK law, and there is no set criteria for writing one. However, they are useful tools in assessing how important sustainability is to a company or organisation, which is an increasing focus to consumers. One study found that 78% of consumers feel that sustainability is important.
Our Sustainability Strategy builds on the foundational sustainability commitments at Designed for Humans, which are:
Efficient design
Remote-first studio
Offsetting the carbon footprint of every project through Ecologi.
We have evaluated the way in which we define our sustainability commitments, and divided them into two clear categories, Design and Human. We have set ourselves three goals with a specific completion date, and identified the actions we need to take in order to meet those goals.
What is a Sustainability Roadmap?
A Sustainability Roadmap presents the future intentions of the company or organisation, relating to the actions they will take in order to achieve their sustainability goals.
Our Sustainability Roadmap shows the actions and activities we will take in order to meet our goals.
Similar to a Sustainability Strategy, a Sustainability Roadmap is not currently required by UK law, and there is no set criteria for writing one. A Sustainability Roadmap can be presented in any format, ranging from a word document to an infographic. Similarly, they can range from being very detailed to very brief.
Our Sustainability Roadmap contextualises the actions we need to take annually in order to meet our goals, and breaks down the actions into more specific activities.
We are striving to achieve the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency in an area that the whole team is passionate about. We hope that through publishing the Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap, we motivate fellow competitors to analyse their own performance, and that they incorporate more sustainable features within their own companies.
